How a desk job turned into masonry work
I spent years at an office desk before I figured out I'd rather build something I could put my hands on. I learned the trade working under a veteran mason, then started this business in Carlsbad in 2013. Thirteen years in, most of our calls still come from homeowners with crumbling joints, a leak by the chimney, or a wall, walkway or patio they want built right. Licenses and permits for masonry in Carlsbad
California contractor license
The state contractor board, CSLB, requires a current license from anyone who contracts for work that needs a building permit, uses hired workers, or comes to $1,000 or more in labor and materials combined. We're fully licensed and insured.
City permits and business license
Carlsbad's Building & Permits office issues building permits, which the city says are generally needed when you add a structure or change one that's already there, and the city requires every contractor working inside its limits to hold a city business license, even one based somewhere else. We check with your city's building office before work starts, and when a permit is needed we pull it, book the inspections and keep you posted.
